Pokemon of the Day + New Releases

Today's blog features spoiler updates for the new X & Y games.

Mega Charizard Pokemon X:

It is Fire/Dragon (finally!!!), which means it is sadly now able to get hit by Fairy-type attacks.

New Pokemon:

They are the evolved forms of Swirlix and Spritzee.

To celebrate the epic new Mega Evolution, today's POTD will be Charizard!

Facts:
Charizard and Typhlosion, along with their respective evolutionary lines, have exactly the same base stats. Infernape also has the same base stat total, though its individual stats differ.
Charizard has the same exact cry as Rhyhorn.
Charmeleon, Charizard, Flareon, Moltres, and Infernape are all known as the Flame Pokémon.
Charizard holds the distinction of being the first Pokémon to appear in the Japanese version of the Pokémon anime; it is the first one to appear in the original opening credits. However, outside of Japan, this honor belongs to Mewtwo.
Charizard is the only Pokémon in the Super Smash Bros. series that transitioned from a Poké Ball Pokémon to a playable character.
It is the only playable Stage-2 Pokémon in the Super Smash Bros. series.
Charizard was the focus of a Pokémon Center promotion in April 2010.
Charizard is the only dual-type Fire-type starter Pokémon whose secondary type is not Fighting.
Charizard was unable to learn Fly through HM02 in Red and Blue. This was changed starting with Yellow, making it possible to still get a Charizard with Fly in the original games by trading one from a later version.
Charizard was voted as the favorite Pokémon by Official Nintendo Magazine readers in February 2012 as well as the number one Pokémon inIGN's "Top 100 Pokemon" list in late 2011.
Origin:
Charizard resembles the European dragon, certainly one of many forms told and rendered in legends.

That concludes today's entry, stay tuned for more tomorrow!
